Airports. Love them? Hate them?
When I ask people how they feel about airports the responses are almost always mixed, they are the key to getting us to see the world yet the hurdles we face to get inside the big bird in the sky can seem stressful and full of anxiety for many. You might even be one of them.
Let me tell you I ADORE AIRPORTS - that feeling of being at the beginning of an unknown adventure just fills me with excitement. Even on my return trip the buzz of people watching, like an army of ants moving in different directions, reminds me how small I am in relation to the rest of the world, and I treasure this feeling so much. Traveling alone is even more exciting but I'll save that topic for another day!
Here are the TOP 3 REASONS why I can't get enough of airports.
1.vip lounges
Airport VIP lounges are my little slice of heaven, and if you have a Priority Pass you'll 100% agree with me. They are not just for the rich and famous. They are for anyone who wants to make their airport travel experience more luxurious and less stressful.
Priority Pass is basically a network of airport lounges and even mini-suites, boasting 1,300 eligible locations in more than 600 airports in over 150 countries. Impressed? You can purchase Priority Pass memberships directly from the site here - https://www.prioritypass.com/en, with annual fees starting at $89 but mine comes as a perk of having The Platinum Card® from American Express.
2.sensory stimuli
Long before I arrive, I research my airports a little like you'd check out your resort or hotel. It might sound crazy but knowing the size of an airport helps me in many ways, from how long it might take to navigate check-in, security, and how long I've got to browse the shops!
I love the feeling of having my senses overloaded with constant announcements, the shops selling things that I don't really need, the departure board - all filling my imagination with cities I've longed to travel to visit.
3.jet fuel
Then there's the intoxicating smell of airplane fuel. YES. Yes, I know I'm crazy, but after all my magnificent travels that aroma stirs lots of great memories and is better than…well, I'll leave that to your imagination!
I’m sure you've gathered that for me airports are some of my favorite places on earth. Whether it's sipping complimentary cocktails in the lounge, marveling at the incredible airport landscape and design, or that feeling of transience, everything in constant motion and change, I just can't get enough!
P.S. Istanbul is my favorite and Singapore is on my Airport Bucket List.
