Travel Insurance
There’s a saying - “If you can’t afford travel insurance, then you can’t afford a trip.” Travel insurance should never be an afterthought, it is as crucial as the vacation itself.
As always, everyone needs to have travel insurance in place, often we think it won’t happen to us, but sometimes it does.
Annual worldwide travel insurance is usually better value if you take more than two trips a year. When you’re buying an annual policy, the start date needs to be the date you book the holiday in order to cover claims made before the trip begins.
If you’re taking out a single trip policy, when you provide the holiday’s start date you will be covered from the day you take out the insurance to the day you return home from holiday.
Check the level of cover provided in the policy covers you for a range of issues and check the Terms & Conditions. If you’re not sure of the jargon used always better to be safe than sorry - contact your insurance company and they’ll talk you through your cover.
Something travellers often forget is to take details of their insurance policy with them, including their policy number and the emergency assistance telephone number provided by their insurer. Another tip is to give a copy of your policy details to friends or family back home in case they need to contact your insurance company on your behalf.
The primary reason for buying travel insurance is that it gives you a worry-free trip. The fear of what can go wrong during your travels often restricts you from enjoying your vacation.
